Other Philadelphia Phillies blogs you might like

Hi, I'm Jack and I'll be your host. Let me tell you a little about me--I'm 47, married and live in south NJ. I'm originally from Upper Darby, PA (go Royals) and I have been a philadelphia sports fan all of my life thanks to my Dad.

I plan on writing about the Philadelphia sports scene in this blog. My goal is to have a post every other day during baseball season and about three to four times a week the rest of the year.

Today's post will be about some Phils blogs I enjoy reading and will likely make refernce to from time to time this season.

  • "We Should All Be GMs" - great for old time Phils stuff, a little heavy on the photoshop but very funny commentary and great baseball insights as well.
  • "Phillies Nation" - great round up of Phils news as well as being updated every day or so. Good articles without being overly sabermetric like many baseball sites. Also love the way he gives out a "Steve Jeltz Award" during the season--kind of like a Phils goat of the day award. They also occasionally organize trips to the part during the season to meet up so you can actually meet people behind the blog.
  • "A Citzen's Blog" - this is Micheal Berquist's blog on the Phils. I was saddened but understood why he shut down the blog after '08 season--hey we all have outside interests and a daily blog can be a grind--but he's back now and I enjoy reading his stuff.
  • "The 700 Level" - the reference is to the highest level at Veterans Stadium. Is about Phillies sports in general but I enjoy their take on things, especially about the Phils.
  • "The Beerleaguer" - another good Phils blog. This blog is great at reporting any Phils move, no matter how obscure, and giving you all the dirt. Keeps you up to date with the Phils prospects/minors as well.
  • "Philliesflow.com" - this one tends to be more a site for sabermatricians and other stat heads but I enjoy the commentary just the same, even if I don't always understand the math.
  • "The Shibe Times" - I just found this one while doing some research on the 1977 Phils--I'm helping Dan Rubin, a columnist a the Philadelphia Inquirer, manage the 1977 Phillies at "Play that Funk Baseball"--it looks good but I haven't really read it much yet.
  • "High Cheese" - this is David Murphy, Phillies beat writer for the Daily News, blog on the Phillies. Murphy is a decent writer--I prefer Jim Salisbury at the Inquirer but I like Murphy's stuff as well.
  • "The Zo Zo Zone" - this one is from former Inquirer beat writer Todd Zolecki and he now writes for mlb.com. I always liked his stuff when he was writing for the Inquirer.
  • "The Good Phight" - another good site for Phils info that I used to read more often. I need to get back ot it.
